Working on my Fitness

Well I have made a decision!  I am going to train for another half marathon.  I did the quarter marathon in May and that got me invigorated for running again and then summer hit and I totally forgot all about my invigorated self!  I replaced working out with Summer Shandy's at night and the pool on the weekend.  I didn't anticipate or expect myself to lose my fitness level but it seemed to just happen.  I really hate it when that happens don't you!

My better half has made the decision to race in his first triathlon in Orlando on September 15th!  He said he got the bug.  This is coming from a man who will not run anything more then 4 mile races with me because anything more then that is "insane" he says.

If my hubby can commit to working on his fitness well darn it so can I!  So much for the "bathing suit season excuse because that ship has sailed given it's the middle of July!  So in my quest to better my physical fitness, I have decided to train for and run a half marathon.  I  don't really know which one I want to do yet.  There is one here in Columbus in October which could work.  I will have to decide really soon!

I set out tonight on my first run.  Well, it was hotter then hades out there and it hit me why I usually run in the morning and in the winter!  But that will not deter me.  I ran almost 3 miles in around 30 minutes.  Not too bad but I was dying out there in the heat.  That distance needs to be my easy run not a hard one!  One day at a time!  I guess in a way I am on a couch to 13.1 program because the corner of my couch was wear I was sitting at night!

Has anyone else "lost" their fitness and are attempting to "find" it again?  Any pointers on preparing for a half?  Anyone else training for a race right now?

Wish me luck and I will definitely keep everyone updated on my "fitness"!

Columbus Food Truck Recap

Well we came, we saw, we waited, we left!  That pretty much sums it up!

Every single line we waited in ran out of the 1 item on the menu that we were waiting for so after 2 hours of waiting in different lines, we gave up and went to the Hubbard Grill!

I know, I know I have been waiting for this for ever and believe me the disappointment was felt by all.  We were waiting in line for french fries and tater tots with different dipping sauces.  I had been waiting for 40 minutes already and was closing in on the front of the line when a nice woman with a 4 month old baby in a stroller came up to me and said "You know that it is a 45 minute wait AFTER you order.  They don't tell you that until you place you order!"  Well needless to say I thanked her for her warning and I promptly left the line.  3 more lines later I had struck out ever time.  I was hungry and mad so I made the executive decision to head to restaurant that had food!

Our posse agreed and off we went t Hubbard Grill!  The food was good considering how hungry we were. I may have eaten anything at that point!  I had a soup and a salad, exciting I know!

The excitement of the night was a guy with a pimped out car that rolled up with the music bumpin.  I thought I was sly in taking his picture but when I looked up he smiled and gave me a thumps up!  I gave one back and he bumped away!  Notice the beautiful green interior of this white wonder!

So I guess the moral of this little trip was to go at lunch time when everyone is at work if you want food!

Until next year I guess!

Anniversary Love

Today is my 7 year wedding anniversary.  Time sure has flown by!  I can still remember the day like it was yesterday.  I planned for 15 months for that day and it flew by so quickly!

We aren't the young carefree people we were on that day anymore.  Marriage has changed us, for the better.  We are a team, now we are Mommy and Daddy.  We have laughed, cried, argued, made up, and most importantly loved as a married couple for 7 years today.

There are so many things that would never have happened if it weren't for that day and for that all I have to say is..................

Best day ever!

 Happy Anniversary Billy!
I love you!

Columbus Food Truck & Cart Festival

Hello Everyone!  Been a few days since my last post.  Felt a little weird about posting something directly after my last post given the content.  Lynn is still missing as of this post so still keep everyone in your thoughts!

Well anywho, My hubby and I will be attending the Columbus Food Truck & Cart Festival on Friday night at Columbus Commons.  Did anyone else watch The Great Food Truck Race on Food Network? Well I never missed an episode!  So needless to say I am super excited for this! Frankly as a vegetarian I have never eaten off of a food truck/cart in my LIFE!  What would I have said, "Hey hot dog vendor, do you have a veggie hot dog?  You don't know what that is?  Oh okay can I just have a bun?"  Yeah I think it would go something like that!

So I am super excited to experience 35 different food trucks at once!  I am sure some will not float my boat or be all meat sandwich wielding vans but from the list I saw on Facebook of the vendors participating, I think I have a huge chance of finding something I really like!

I will definitely post pics and reviews after we attend.  Don't worry I will get reviews from my meat eating counterpart also so as to not be too bias toward a noodle truck!

Is anyone else attending this food truck festival?  Have you ever been to a food truck festival before?  What is your favorite thing off of a food truck?

Missing Mother of Two......Spread the word!

I had planned another post for today but I felt the recent events in my home town took major precedent over the weekend wrap up.  I am from a small town in central Ohio.  The motto of our small town is "Someplace Special".  It is the type of town where everyone knows everyone and your children can ride their bikes around town without a worry.  So when I saw the first post about this on Facebook I was speechless.  I never expected to know who the individuals in a missing person case are and this really hits too close to home for me so I feel it is my duty as an Ashland native, a mother, and a blogger to spread the word as far as I can and I hope my readers will do the same!

Lynn Jackenheimer is missing and foul play is suspected.  Her ex-boyfriend Nate Summerfield is still at large and is the only person who truly knows the whereabouts of Lynn. Below is an excerpt from this news article on wavy.com

"Deputies in Dare County are looking for an Ohio woman who hasn’t been seen since vacationing in the Outer Banks last week."

"Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office told WAVY.com deputies in Dare County as well as troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol were searching for Lynn Jackenheimer, 33. Investigators in Ashland, OH contacted deputies in reference to a missing person who was reportedly last seen in the Salvo area of Hatteras Island on July 4."

"Sunday, Summerfield reportedly dropped the 3-year-old son he shares with Jackenheimer off with this brother at the parents' home. It is unsure where the the 13-year-old daughter was dropped off. Jackenheimer was nowhere to be seen. Summerfield is now also missing, Hoggard said. Schorr added they were last seen in a 2009 silver Honda Civic with a license plate of FMV7540."

Below is a picture of Lynn Jackenheimer from her Facebook page.

The man suspected in her disappearance Nate Summerfield is below

Please spread the word.  I have attached the information sheet that is circulating on facebook.

It Has Arrived!

How many of you have heard of BaubleBar?  Well, I heard about it from Natalie over at Designer Bags and Dirty Diapers.  She ordered a necklace from them that looked exactly like a sold out version from Shopbop so I had to check it out.  Well I was in love.  I decided to order the Lime Bauble Bib.  I know this trend is in right now but the cheapskate in me doesn't want to pay to much for it!   It was pre-order only so I knew I would have to wait for it to come.  They said it would ship before July 1st and since I placed my order on June 13th, I had to have patience while awaiting it's arrival.

Well, much to my surprise this little gem was waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday.

So of course I tore it open to find a cute felt bag.  What a wonderful little touch!

Well it is exactly as I hoped it would be and even more.  Very great quality!  It was on sale for an intro price of $28 which was $10 less then what it sells for now.  Since I was new to the site they give you 100 Vault points.  I cashed those puppies in to and it took another $10 off so I got this little stunner for a mere $18!  No shipping charge either!

Needless to say I can't wait to wear it this weekend!  I just need somewhere to go!

P.S. I couldn't help my self I had to wear it to work today!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mickey Mouse Birthday Party Recap

MY BABY IS 2!

Well little baby Reid is not a baby any more.  He is officially a toddler!  We pulled off his party on Sunday even with horrific storm on Friday that left our beautiful umbrella stuck in the tilted position and the other storm that rolled in 2 hours into the party.  Nonetheless I accomplished what I set out to do in throwing him the best Mickey Mouse birthday part I could for a 2 year old!

Here are some of the highlights in pictures........

The Cake

The Buffet.
I made the pennant on my Cricuit machine.  Thank you Carmen for letting me borrow your Micky Cricuit cartridges!

We did hot dogs and macaroni and cheese.  All of Reid's favorites!

The goodie bags!  I put in gold fish crackers, a fruit squeezer, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, mickey stickers, and a Mickey Mouse to go pack from the dollar spot at Target.  I didn't want to give them anything that would stick around for a long time.  All the items can be used or eaten!  No small slinkys here!

I found little mouse ears at Walmart and made a sign using the Mickey/Disney Font I downloaded from DaFont.com  I have to say the font really made my signs authentic!

I made this sign to go by the hot dogs on the buffet table.

I also made this Mickey themed Subway Til artwork.  I thought it would add a nice touch to the gift table and afterwards I hung it in his room!  What a great way to commemorate the day!

The outdoor present area before the storm rolled in!

Pinterest has been my best friend in finding lots of great ideas for kids at parties.  I bought large bottles of bubble mix and filled a drink dispenser with them and labeled it "Bubble Filling Station".  The kids loved it.  I found a cute little pack of different bubble wants and had those available for them to use.

The birthday boy really loved the bubbles!

Here he is in his birthday present from his Papa and CiCi!  I dressed him as a little Mickey Mouse.  I sewed little white patches onto his red shorts.  I thought he looked super cute!

After we ate inside and during the storm we decorated the Mickey Mouse cookies.  Reid made sure to put a few on his cookie and a few in his mouth!

While opening presents he received this little Mickey beanie from his Mawmaw.  I think that was his favorite present because he hugged it the rest of the night!

Reid didn't want to stop playing with his new toys so we stuck in behind him for a family picture and this is the best one we could get!  Maybe next year I guess!

I had a wonderful time planning the little party for my little Mickey fan!  He walked around all day pointing at all the Mickey decor.  I am sure he may not remember the party but I will always remember how much fun we all had!

I can finally have a rest for a few months on party planning which will be nice but knowing me I won't be able to last that long before I start to plan for another party.

Does anyone else have any great parties they are planning?  What is the best theme party you have every been to?

Happy 4th of July

Happy early 4th of July!

We will be spending tomorrow with family and friends so I am posting a day early!  Dublin fireworks are tomorrow night and we bought a table on the field to enjoy a concert given by Joe Walsh with fireworks directly after.  It is always the best time for everyone who comes with us and I am sure this year will be no different!
Check back on Thursday for the full wrap-up of Reid's Mickey 2nd Birthday party.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe July 4th!
